Below are some pictures of Drew Simpson's Coral Sitar Guitar. Drew is a past student, an ongoing customer and an award winning jazz guitarist. (Check out our Students and Customers) Although Drew is primarily a Jazz Guitarist, he is also very proficient in and loves many styles of contemporary music. This has lead Drew to the playing of many different and varied guitars and guitar type instruments. One such instrument is his Coral Sitar Guitar.
The Sitar Guitar came in for normal set-up and at that time we suggested some custom electrical wiring. The original Lip-Stick pickups were kept but re-wired to allow independent volume, tone and out-board pedal effects per pickup/amplifier which can produce a very wide range of tonal colorations and a very, very spatial soundstage. The Sitar was also shielded to the max to quiet hiss and hum.
We only have pictures showing the custom wiring of the electrical control compartment.
These photos show the Sitar's electrical control compartment, custom wiring and shielding. Each of the three pickups are wired to an independent volume control with treble bleed, tone control and then to a separate out-put jack. A "Black-Ice" was also wired to the circuit.
