Below are pictures of an electric Gibson Jazz "F"-Hole Guitar. As you can see I only have "after" pictures. I must have been just too anxious to play the restored Gibson - and forgot to take the before and during photos - Oh well.
This Gibson came in with some fret wear and corrosion, intermittent electrical problems, corrosion on the tuning keys, bridge and all metal parts, tuning and intonation problems. The finish had minor dings, numerous scratches and was quite dirty and very dull.
The as-is condition of this vintage Gibson ES Guitar necessitated a complete tear-down and a complete repair and restoration, however, still keeping the Gibson true to it's originality.Note: there were NO cracks, breaks or missing parts.
These photos show the finished restoration of this vintage/classic Gibson ES Guitar. Work done: Complete wet-sand and polish of the body and neck, (Dings/Chips were not removed/repaired - leaving original finish wear, but polished out). Tuning keys R&R (cleaned, straightened shafts, Polished and lubed), Electric harness (pulled, chemically cleaned) all metal and plastic parts cleaned and polished, complete set-up (nut, saddle, truss rod, pick-up, etc) and intonated.
This beautiful old Gibson ES Guitar is all original - just a little spit and shine and a minor tune-up. What a guitar - know any "Old Blue Eyes" stuff?
