Below are pictures of the repair and restoration of a early 70's Gibson J-50 acoustic guitar. As of now, this is a work-in-progress. The guitar came in with quite extensive damage. The owner said it's been in the familhy forever and has high sentimental value to him.
In addition to the physical damage, the guitar was dirty, had numerous finish scratches (before the damage), fret wear, metal corrosion on the tuning keys and frets, and had been previously worked on (bridge shaved down to lower the action).
However, the neck break angle was good for being repairable and the owner had saved almost all the loose/broken pieces of wood. Best of all, this guitar is very light in weight and as such should have a great sound and singing quality when finished.
Look for upcoming pictures.
The before pictures show the Gibson J-50 in its as-is condition: Broken head, numerous top cracks/breaks, broken/loose braces, binding deterioration, previous repairs to the bridge, etc.
