Vintage/Classic Guitar Aging Levels
For Fretted Instruments
Here at MayosMusic, in addition to offering great guitar/bass lessons and complete luthier services that includes guitar and amplifier repairs/restorations, we are also a great resource service. Below is a breakdown of the four different guitar aging levels as applied to the visual appearance of new guitars that are replicated to look like old vintage and/or classic guitars.
N.O.S. (New Old Stock)
A new guitar built with replicas of vintage parts.
Closet Classic Aging
Imagine the look of a 1950's or 1960's classic guitar that's been left in its case, under a bed for decades. A little "dull" in it's shine, but plays like new.
Body "dings", finish scrapes and flaws. This is the look of a road-worn, beaten-up, working guitar.
Heavy Relic Agine
A new guitar that plays and feels flawless but looks like an antique with heavy wear and aging.
