Below are pictures of the repair and restoration of a Gibson Les Paul Custom Guitar. The guitar had intermittent electrical problems (scratchy pots, cutting-out jack, etc) action, intonation and tuning problems. The bridge had sagged (concave) which necessitated it's replacement. The finish was dirty, some dullness and scratches. Frets were corroded and dull creating a ruff feel when playing bends, plus most of the hardware had finish deterioration, corrosion and pitting. The guitar's as-is condition necessitated a complete tear-down for a proper repair and restoration. The owner chose to replace some parts (with original Gibson)
The before pictures show the Les Paul Custom with fretware/corrosion/tarnish, some finish deterioration and heavy metal corrosion.
The pictures show some new replacement parts: bridge, stop tailpiece, tuning keys and pick-up trim rings.
These photos show the finished Gibson Les Paul Custom. Work done: frets topped/polished, body cleaned/polished, all metal and plastic parts cleaned and polished. Electronics chemically cleaned, plus guitar cavities complete shielding. Final set-up and intonation. The guitar is now in excellent+ condition and good for many more years of playing. Sling it low Black Dog.
